I spoke to a few students and asked them what they did whilst on work experience in the fashion industry.
Wiriya Wimolpatant
Where did you work and how long for?
I worked at Style Shake which is an online design company which I found on facebook and The Times newspaper for 4 weeks.
What did you experience while you were there?
Pattern cutting, travelling, delivering, computers and researching. I did jersey pattern and cutting toiles which I used to design my own garnments.
Was it paid work or voluntairy?
Voluntairy so it was expensive for travel on the underground.
Was the work hard?
It was hard at first but now I am really good at pattern cutting. It was avery bust athmosphere so there was no communication with anybody.
What did you most enjoy about the job?
Lots of very friendly people toiles and putting designs on the website.

Where did you work and how long for?
Native Clothing Designs LTD, Miss Selfridge, Topshop, ASOS
What kind of work did the job involve?
Designers, pattern cutting, printing helped out doing a bit of everything.
Was the job paid for?
No it was voluntairy for 1 week.
What did you most enjoy about the work?
Watching how everything works in a team, working with a designer at Miss Selfridge and being offered a job as junior designer.
Was it hard work?
It was hard as it was constantly busy and I worked 8.30-4pm
Ashleigh Laverick
Where did you work?
Eternal Spirits doing pattern cutting, call ins for magazines, photoshoots and events. I also took appointments and had my own customers which I designed for, I did a press day and Harrogate Lingerie Show. I worked at Love Label and did CAD work, fittings, helped launch Very.com.
Was it paid work?
Voluntairy but they paid for my train fare.

Coronation Street- 1 week
Eternal Spirits- 8 months
Love Label- 4 months
What kind of work was it?
Eternal Spirits- Hand sewing, beading, design
Love Label- Trend boards, ranking, gathered clothes for advert
